2010 USREA ECO-AWARDS
~ Honoring Exceptional Service in Renewable Energy Products, Information and Technology ~
CALL FOR NOMINATIONS (DEADLINE: NOVEMBER 27, 2010)
The USREA Eco-Award honors individuals and companies with exceptional service to Education, Technology and the Understanding of renewable technologies and the renewable energy industry as a whole. The USREA Eco-Award is presented by the USREA Board of the US Renewable Energy
Association, LLC.
About the Award
The USREA Eco-Award was established in 2009 to recognize the contributions that change
perceptions, advance technology, reduce resources and improve efficiency.

Selection Criteria
Candidates for The USREA Eco-Award should have demonstrated outstanding leadership and accomplishment in meeting at least two of the following selection criteria:

  • Distinguished him/herself or company through public service activities in science, information and technology.
  • Pioneer new technology, education, and public service.
  • Demonstrated leadership and creativity that have inspired others to distinguished careers in renewable or advanced energy saving technology.
  • Contributed to the welfare of the Nation through activities in renewable technology.

Submit a Nomination
Nominations for The 2010 USREA Eco-Award may be made on the USREA Awards page at
http://www.usrea.org/industryawards.htm , by email, or by postal mail. The website contains detailed information concerning nomination procedures. Nominations remain active for three years, including the year of nomination. Nominations are made by USREA members in good standing and through the USREA blog.

Nomination Procedure Guidelines
Nominations must include:

  • A narrative statement addressing the candidate’s activities and contributions related to the selection criteria,
  • Support material substantiating nomination narrative,
  • Contact information for award candidate and nominator, including postal mail address, email address, and phone number,
  • Two reference letters from individuals familiar with the candidate’s accomplishments, and not affiliated with the candidate’s home institution.

USREA is proud to award to Dow Chemical, Midland, Michigan, in conjunction with Algenol Biofuels, The Biofuel Advancement Award. This award recognizes the significant advancement in biofuel technology, biofuel yields and biofuel interoperability.

USREA is proud to award to Frank Beckman, WJR-AM Broadcaster, The Broadcasting Excellence Award. This award Recognizes Frank Beckmann and WJR for the body of information resources and show guests which contribute to understanding of earth climate systems beyond political dictates or agenda based science. USREA is proud to award to Solyndra Inc., Freemont, CA for unique Innovation in PV Award. The award recognizes the advance in Cell Configuration through the design of tubular PV cells, which maximize efficiency.

USREA is proud to award to Yuneec International for Innovation in Electric Aircraft Award. The award recognizes the advance in Aircraft Configuration through the design of Electric propulsion and battery cells, which maximize efficiency.

USREA is proud to award to the Chevrolet Division of GMC, Detroit, Michigan for unique Innovation in Power Train Design Award. The award recognizes the advance in the Chevrolet Volt through the design of the electric propulsion drive.

USREA is proud to award to Dow Chemical, Midland, MI for The Innovation in Solar Shingle Design. The award recognizes the advance in configuration through the design of Powerhouse Shingle PV cells, which increase the practical integration of solar technology into a wide array of buildings.

USREA is proud to award to Seahorse Power Company, Needham, MA for unique Innovation in Recycling Award. The award recognizes the advance in cost effective and practical solutions to recycling expansion through the design of the Big Belly Solar Trash collection system.
