Deepwater One Enters New Phase

At about halfway between N.Y. and Martha’s Vineyard, Mass., Deepwater ONE is the nations first offshore wind energy area. As the first offshore wind farm under construction in the United States, the 30-megawatt, 5 turbine Block Island Wind Farm is scheduled to be online in the fall of  2016. Construction of the site has concluded and testing and certification will now begin. With a potential for more than 1,000 MW of offshore wind development, Deepwater Wind plans to build multiple phases in this wind energy area to serve Long Island, Massachusetts and Rhode Island. The 90 MW South Fork Wind Farm will be the first operational wind farm in the Deepwater ONE wind energy area.
