Signs Point to DoubleTree and Tesla Charging Ahead

DoubleTree Hotel, Port Huron, Michigan, is looking to the next phase of electric vehicle charging at the iconic Hotel along the US – Canada border, according to John Kuithe, General Manager of DoubleTree by Hilton. Tesla Super-Chargers are being strategically installed at electric charging centers in cooperation with various Hotels and key locations, to ensure Tesla customers have charging options that provide flexibility while traveling. As a big fan of the Tesla S (check out my Tesla Test Drive) it was exciting to see cars fueling up on electrons literally down the street from my office. For Double Tree, future plans will expand beyond Tesla and include charging options for a wider clientele, and provide yet another reason for people to discover this hidden Gem along the St. Clair River.

DoubleTree is seeing the benefit of the Super-Charger decision, and the benefits go beyond simple battery charging. With the Gateway to the Great Lakes at the Double Tree doorstep, Blue Water Convention Center, the Great Lakes Maritime Center, Blue Water International Bridge to Canada, shopping, Yacht Clubs, Freighters Eatery and endless area attractions, the destination is the perfect place to show off this area. And with the North American International Auto Show underway, it is an easy drive for enthusiasts of electric and hybrid vehicles to visit, re-charge, dine and discover.

The U.S. Renewable Energy Association is proud to call the Port Huron area home, along with DoubleTree, and as such, we look to opportunities for events, conferences and opportunities that advance clean technologies. DoubleTree by Hilton remains a key member in the area growth and promotion, and we look forward to working with them in promoting renewable energy.
